Worship beyond the music.....

Somehow writing this is uncomfortable to me. Most worship leaders would write on this subject of worship beyond the music.

I've notice in my years around ministry is that worship through music is one major part of any worship service. We open and close the service with a songs. But as the songs have become a part of our service that encourages us and focus our attention on Christ, it also hinders our true worship with Christ.

Wait before you throw stones at me and beat down my door let me explain.....

So many times in Churches I go to or people I hang around I hear phrases like "I can't worship to that music because its a bunch of hymns" or " I can only worship to Contemporary, Gospel or prophetic style worship"

I've heard these phrases over and over in the last couple of years.

I has completely made my stomach turn upside down.

I've grew up in a church that was completely gospel.....black gospel....to a church where is a bunch of hymns, around prophetic style worship and now in a contemporary church.

The problem that I have is that we as believer have over the years missed something.

That something that we have missed is the fact that no matter the style of worship....its still the same God.

That we can't become people that are moved by a style or song, more than we are moved by Christ himself.

God began to speak to me in saying "can you still worship me fully beyond the music, if it wasn't your style or even if there wasn't a note played on an instrument, could you still worship me with everything"

Honestly I stopped, looked at myself and realized I couldn't

That somehow over the years I've been moved by the emotion of the song more than moved by God himself.

I've realized that songs get old, people loss the original feeling and heart of a song. But God stays the same forever. He never gets stale or dull.

That my worship is consumed in a song but it is consumed in who the song is about. It is about the only true and living God. The one who makes a way our of no way.

That when I truly worship God with everything in truth, Hell becomes nervous over me. Hell is nervous now because satan knows that my eyes and heart have caught a gaze of true worship. That when I understand true worship I am a treat to the kingdom of darkness and that makes it nervous over me.

The devil realizes you are a treat when you understand real worship. The devil doesn't care if we get emotional in a song or life our hand. He doesn't care if we dance either if we are doing because we are moved by a song and not God.

Lets go beyond the music and set our gaze on God and be truly moved by him and nothing else.....

Lets make hell nervous over us.....because we are armed and dangerous to the kingdom of darkness!

Blinker....are you listening?

The rain was pouring, drops are bouncing heavy off my roof. Windshield wipers are swinging to the max. I hear the brakes screeching from the car to my right. Music is blasting my ear drums out....then in the distance I hear a normal, familiar sound that is distance and unfamiliar to hear normally in my car because of the noise around me, that noise was the sound of a distance but presence BLINKER.....

While driving to work the Spirit began to tune my ear to the sound of my blinker. I mean I use my blinker all the time but I never hear its sound because of the noise that surrounds it.

When I heard the sound....the Spirit began to speak a fresh word on that....

We began to show me of all the noise in life....God is that blinker who is a normal, familiar sound to believers.....but a distance, unfamiliar sound at the same time....

What has been on my heart is really listening to the voice of God.....

That from four Generations...it has went from 65% to this Generation of 4% who is authentic followers of Christ among teens....something has to change...

God voice of change has become so distance from us...that we don't want to hear him tell us that we have it wrong.....

That we only hear and respond to God when he speaks what we want to hear....and that we have this...whatever it is....right....

God I want to hear what is it that we have wrong....so by your Spirit, wisdom, knowledge and direction, can we help change it.

That his voice has become distance and unfamiliar to some of our lives....

That just like the blinker....even when the noise is drowning it out.....doesn't mean that it still is not making sound....

God is still speaking, even if we can't hear him over the noise....

We have to tune our ears to hear his voice about anything else....

How?

You must know how he speaks....diving into his word to understand how he speaks, through him speaking to others is the best start....

He is the same today, yesterday and forever....

We have to drown out all the other noise around us....

When you driving in your car next time...

Let the music blast, and all the other noise surround you....but in all of that listen to the normal, familiar that is distance and unfamiliar sound of the blinker....it will change your life of how God speaks to us....it changed mine.....

Are you Pregnant?

The phase "Are you Pregnant?" keep running through my head!

God wants you to be impregnated with impact to help your friends, family, strangers to see the love of Christ!

How can you impact?

Open your mouth and talk about Christ!

Live the life God has called you to live!

Be MORE involved in the ministries in Church!

Open up and seek the face of God in all around worship!

--------------------------
------------------------------------------------------

God is calling all of us to step out of our comfort zone into his presence!

--------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------

After spending time with God and just listening to him. I know this next year God is calling up to become seeker after him!

Wait?!?!?

Wasn't I supposed to be seeking already?

YES!

God is speaking for us to become BETTER SEEKERS after him!

We get stuck in this tradition rut without even knowing it.

We say hey this is how I worship, I don't need to do more.

WRONG!

God calls us to advance in our worship with him. We should be growing in our walk with God, in worship, prayer, fasting, witnessing, reading the word, spending time with him, mission work, and SEEKING HIM!

Its time past to only seek him on Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday. Its seeking him EVERYDAY!

God is elevating us to become BETTER SEEKER!

I don't know about you be I'm advancing in seeking God.

Will you join?

Are you Pregnant?

2008 Has Come and Gone

For many people, 2008 represents a year of hard times, trials, and financial struggles. I've heard many people say that 2008 was the hardest year for them so far in many ways! Michael and I have also had our share of those trials and tribulations, but that's not what first comes to mind when I think of 2008. This past year, God has taught me to be more aware of how He's working in my life and the life of those around me! I've been so blessed this year to see God move in mighty ways! So, 2008 was a year that I will continue to praise God for!
In 2008, I've seen God continue to stregthen my marriage to my wonderful husband, whom I am SOOO thankful for, and to bless us more than we deserve! We are so very thankful for His blessings and love. This past year, we celebrated 5 years of marriage. To celebrate we went on a cruise to the Bahamas with our good friends, Lauren and Keith. It was an amazing vacation and one that won't be forgotten! This past year, God has also blessed us with the ability to be able to build and own our own home again. What a blessing that has been! Thank you Lord for all your many blessings in our lives!
God has also been at work in the lives of our youth at CrossPointe Church! Michael and I have seen God work in mighty ways in their lives and we are so glad that we've been a part of and a witness to God moving among them! Not only has our youth group grown in numbers, they have grown so much spiritually and that growth has been obvious to so many! We are so proud of our youth and their desire to know God more and to live for Him!
God isn't just moving in CrossPointe youth though, He's very present in CrossPointe Church as a whole! We are so excited about what God is doing in and through CrossPointe and that He is allowing us to be a part of His grand plan there! CrossPointe has been such a tremendous blessing in our lives and we love watching God at work there. With 2008 behind us, and 2009 already under way, I'm excited about what this year holds for Michael and I and for CrossPointe Church!

Guest Post - Tracey Jones

2008 - The Best and Worst Year of My Life So Far

I was thinking about it the other day - that 2008 had been both the best and worst year of my life. I started out the year with the excitement of planning my daughter's wedding but that was not to be. We had several deaths in our family this year and the death of a very dear friend. The economy has definitely taken its toll this year and that has been tough. I have experienced personal turmoil at times this year. All of these things and several others have made it the worst year so far!

It has been the best year because God revealed Himself in an amazing way during the worst times. As hard as it was for the wedding to be cancelled and that relationship to end, I can really see how God protected her and can see His hand in every detail. I'm so glad that He knows better than we do! As tough as the deaths were to deal with, God provided a comfort that cannot be explained. As tough as the economy has made it financially, I have learned to rely on God more. Through the personal turmoil I have developed a closer relationship with God than I have ever had before. We started going to a new church in November of 2007 and moved our membership in February of 2008. This has brought many new friends!! Moving there has been one of the best decisions we have ever made. There has been a huge change in both myself and Phillip. I can barely keep Phillip away from there! He would be at both services every Sunday morning if I would let him! Darby has accepted Christ as her Savior since we have been there and was baptized in April.

There were so many tough things that happened in 2008 and it seemed like they all happened very close together. Through it all I can see God's protection and His provision, His grace and His mercy, His forgiveness and His love.

I know there will be ups and down in 2009 as well. I will be a little better prepared this time because of the amazing work He has done in me in 2008!

Impact

Impact for the Kingdom of G-d!

That thought has been running through my head.

As true believer of G-d, our lives should make an impact.

We should be shaking the gate of hell in fear and breaking down wall that cause this block between people and Christ.

We don't have to be a fancy TV preacher, or even a pastor at all to make an impact!

G-d will use whoever is willing to be used by him. If G-d will use a donkey.....

Its giving up everything we think....our opinions on how things should be..... sucks!

We need to break away from our mind set, grab the heart and mind set he wants us to have.

Our main thing to do here on earth is to Live for G-d!

He is not going to let you have a boring life with no fun.....that is Budda or some other false god....that with a little "g"

The boring life comes from looking back on your life twenty....fifty years and realize that up to that point you had "fun" but made no impact that meant something.

As believer we MUST make an impact....

It is hard, scary, tough, painful, takes A LOT of FAITH but in the end it is worth it.

I've had to step away from friends, social status, "fun" worldly times.

I tell you, to this very day it is so easy to run back into the world than live for G-d.

But I never had so much fun and encouragement since I truly followed Christ.

Most Christians "follow" Christ but wander off so much......because we want to do our thing.

Why even bother by calling yourself a Christian if you are not going to fully follow Christ. You are only fooling yourself.

We need to come back to the fullness we lost in the garden.

The oneness with G-d.

To truly know what it means to dwell in his presence.....Always!

Are you ready to make an impact for the Kingdom?

Even if you never get notice....are you ready?

Randomly Weird Feelings

Ok, I know I do this quite often but here is another one, this on is going to be different from most any others. First off, if you reading this period, Thanks for taking the time to either be nosy or you just enjoy reading my notes/blogs

Ok so first of all, I'm 100% tired of giving into my selfishness and giving into the temptations put in my life. I am doing everything within my power to fix this but that main thing I need to do is just open my heart to God, give him my life. I live my life the best I can for MY GOD but I am only human. As I sit here tonight trying to think of things to do my first lesson/sermon for my youth group I can only think of all those worldly/sinful things I have allowed myself to do.

Right now I am listening to a song call "How he Loves Us", the Kim Walker version, if you haven't seen it you need to youtube it and just listen to the words . But its talking about how God loves us so so much. I mean think about it, he died a terrible death, he suffered, and what did he suffer for? He was beaten, and form my understanding you could see his organs through his ribs he was so badly beaten. Not only did he get beat, but carried a wooden cross that later he would be nailed to by his hands and his feet across a town and up a mountain. Then once he got to that top of that hill, he laid there on that cross and willingly let these men hammer nails through his hands and feet. then they hing him up mocking him, as he hung there suffering. Eventually he suffocated fro his own blood. That is so gruesome but that is the truth. Jesus, the human version of MY GOD did all this and for what? He did all this because he wanted to be an example of how to live a perfect life, how to have faith and work miracles. He healed so many people, loved everyone so much and he died for us, for all of our sins. "He became sin, who knew no sin", that is from Chris Tomlin's song Jesus Messiah.

Jesus became our sin so all we had to do is believe in him, believe in his father, except him into our heart and we are saved from an eternity of HELL. he lived on earth for us to follow his guidance and do the work of God as we are created to do. Anyway, Jesus went though all of that so we can act like he isn't real, so we can be selfish and disobey his every command. Why are we so selfish? Why is there so much hate, violence, sex, drugs, anything that is not of God? Why are people so selfish?

Anyway, so think about it. "How he loves us" The lyrics say this

Oh, how he loves us so, oh how he loves, how he loves us so.

think about that, this song is my favorite song and its not about anything but God love for you, Gods love for me. He Loves You, He died for you, he even went to hell for 3 days for you and me. Think about that for a little bit. Jesus went to the worst place ever, for YOU and for ME, and yet we don't believe in him or we just don't care about it. The name Jesus has lost its meaning. JESUS LOVES YOU as do I. Thanks for reading, I hope this has touched your heart and will also make you want to change your life. JESUS LOVES YOU!

Idols Upon Idols

idols upon idols

I was just in the middle of going over some research my little brother James put together....which is good. It is a research on why he believes in what he believes.

Other Christians should take a step back and really understand why they believe in what they believe. If you ask most they really don't know...

"Its because I always grew up in church and been around it"---STUPID...Their is so much more to it then that....

I'll save that topic for another day....maybe!

Just into looking at what James sent me, he put a verse from Jeremiah 10:12

Usually when I read a verse I read it in context so I have to read the verses before and after. Even sometimes read a couple of chapters before.

I read Jeremiah 10:11

Thus shall to them: "The gods who did not make the heavens and the earth shall perish from the earth and from under the heavens."

G-d is talking to the house of Israel. Israel is a perfect picture of us now....WE DON'T GET IT!

So many time G-d has to come to the house of Israel for harden hearts and seeking after idols and not him.

Just like us even today. We don't have to bow down to a golden calf for some dressed up piece of wood with silver, gold and clothes on. This is what the house of Israel is having as an idol!

So what is our idols?

Cars? Friends? Video Games? Work? Money? Girlfriend/Boyfriend? Family? TV? Shoes? Clothes? Staying up with the Jones(young kids ask your parents)? Doing work in church for attention? school (doesn't mean drop out)?

What is your idol?

Idols are simple....what ever you put before G-d is an idol.

I'm sure we all have idols including myself. I'm not a perfect guy here....

These thing have made a place among us as a "god" because it consumes us and controls us.

G-d put it plan when he spoke to the prophet:

Thus shall to them: "The gods who did not make the heavens and the earth shall perish from the earth and from under the heavens."

This things we are consumed by, didn't make the very universe we live in. The very air we take in.

G-d is so much bigger!

"It is he who made the earth by his power,
who established the world by his wisdom,
and by his understanding stretched out the heavens.
When he utters his voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens,
and he makes the mist rise from the ends of the earth.
He makes lightning for the rain,
and he brings forth the wind from his storehouses.
Every man is stupid and without knowledge;
every goldsmith is put to shame by his idols,
for his images are false,
and there is no breath in them"

Jeremiah 10:12-14

What Is Love?

4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. 5 It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.
1 Cor 13:4-8 (ESV)

I was listening to “Came to My Rescue by Hillsong” on Youtube and in the video I saw a picture where “LOVE NEVER ENDS” was pointed out and I thought I want to find out where that is in the Bible and read on it a little, I don’t know why it struck me but I wanted to read it. So I did, and I found it was located in 1 Corinthians 13:8. I read the entire chapter 13 to find out why the writer, in this case who would be Paul I believe, would write Love Never Ends. As I read I found out that LOVE is not only a very powerful word, but if you have true love, nothing will get in the way of you the one you love. Nothing can get in the way of you and the one you love.

I think these verses describe and define love perfectly. This may not help you understand the feeling, but it will help you understand that love is way more than just a word. As I was sitting in church yesterday morning Pastor David said he hates the word Christian because it has been watered down so much, because someone who does not live a Christian lifestyle calls themselves a Christian just to give themselves a religious label. I would say the same thing about the word love, I don’t hate the word but as we all know this to has been watered down, because a 13 or 14 year old tells their boyfriend or girlfriend they love them when really, they have no clue what love is or maybe even means.

I don’t have an inspiring words, I just wanted to share this with all of you. Read the above passage a few times if you have to, but read it and make sure you understand it. And when your done, think about the word love and hopefully, your view on this word has changed. God Bless You All!

Passion=Passion?

I rarely share what I pray about or encounter with Christ in prayer. I was just praying and all I heard the Spirit speak of was PASSION!

We hear about passion all the time. It really made me think of how the creator of this universe/world is passionate about us.

If Christ wasn't passionate about a relationship with us, he would have never went through what he did. He would have never taken whips to his back or have a crown of thorns on his head. He would have never let someone put nails in his hands and feet. If he wasn't passionate about us, he would never got up from the grave.

It shows you how our God is passionate enough to send his son to be murdered for our sins against him.

Its crazy how we are not Passionate for him the way we should. Some of us have passion but its this average, just to get by passion. I'M GUILTY! Trust me I am!

The creator of all this nature we look at and the universe we admire. That he is personally passionate to have a deep intimate relationship with each and every one of us.

In the middle of thinking that....my prayer to God was simple.

"God I know the passion I have for you can't equal the passion you have towards me, but my desire it to seek after having your passion."

Lets truly have a passion for our God! If you call him your Savior, Lord then ACT LIKE IT. Have that deep PASSIONATE desire for him!

What kind of friends do you have?

1 Corinthians 15:33
NIV - " Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character."
NAS - "Do not be deceived: "Bad company corrupts good morals."

From this scripture you can get what you want from it but this is what I get. First I put 2 different versions of the same verse because they both help you understand it differently. I like the NIV where it says "Do not be misled" but then I like the NAS "Bad company corrupts good morals" to me this is what it means. If you are trying to like a Godly life but your hanging out with people who aren't Christians or people who say they are and don't try to live the lifestyle then they will influence you. I have seen this a lot and actually I have done this myself before. To anyone who is reading this please try to improve who your friends are if you want to live for God.

Here is a small story about something that happened to me and one of the first times I ever have seen God show me what he meant besides just telling me through other people. I was at my hotel room in Pigeon Forge in Tennessee. I randomly woke up at like 6 even though I had only slept for a few hours I was fully refreshed as if I had slept for 10 hours. Anyway, everyone was still asleep and I wanted to just go sit on our balcony and talk to God.

After getting dressed I went outside and sat down. TO explain what I was looking at, there was a big creek or small river, how ever you want to say it, in front of me. And as I sat there I began to just talk to God. Not asking for anything, just thanking him for being the God he is and for everything I have been given. As I sat there I saw 1 duck fly into the river. a few minutes later about 6 more ducks flew into the river and swam over to the other duck that was alone. one by one the ducks began to fly off but the first duck to come never left. within 5 or 6 minutes the duck was alone again. then again one by one a duck would fly in and swim over to the lone duck. before he swam away there were like 6 other ducks together then they all flew away together. This is what all this means.

God sent the ducks to me to show me what would happen to me as I got closer to him. The lone duck was me. He showed me that at one time I had no friends meaning when I was a baby. As I grew up I began to get loads of friends but I didn't have a relationship with him so I began getting the wrong friends. Then when I decided to have a relationship with God I started losing some friends. the closer I got the less friends I had until I felt like I was all alone in this world. But as I continued living my life for him I started making new friends. and by the time the all the ducks flew off together I had more friends and better friends then I did before.

The moral of this story is the closer you get to God, the less friends you will have, but you will in the end have more and a lot better friends than the ones you will lose.

If you read this please comment and let me know what you think. I hope in some way this has touched you and will help you somehow in your life. GOD BLESS!!
