2008 - The Best and Worst Year of My Life So Far

I was thinking about it the other day - that 2008 had been both the best and worst year of my life. I started out the year with the excitement of planning my daughter's wedding but that was not to be. We had several deaths in our family this year and the death of a very dear friend. The economy has definitely taken its toll this year and that has been tough. I have experienced personal turmoil at times this year. All of these things and several others have made it the worst year so far!

It has been the best year because God revealed Himself in an amazing way during the worst times. As hard as it was for the wedding to be cancelled and that relationship to end, I can really see how God protected her and can see His hand in every detail. I'm so glad that He knows better than we do! As tough as the deaths were to deal with, God provided a comfort that cannot be explained. As tough as the economy has made it financially, I have learned to rely on God more. Through the personal turmoil I have developed a closer relationship with God than I have ever had before. We started going to a new church in November of 2007 and moved our membership in February of 2008. This has brought many new friends!! Moving there has been one of the best decisions we have ever made. There has been a huge change in both myself and Phillip. I can barely keep Phillip away from there! He would be at both services every Sunday morning if I would let him! Darby has accepted Christ as her Savior since we have been there and was baptized in April.

There were so many tough things that happened in 2008 and it seemed like they all happened very close together. Through it all I can see God's protection and His provision, His grace and His mercy, His forgiveness and His love.

I know there will be ups and down in 2009 as well. I will be a little better prepared this time because of the amazing work He has done in me in 2008!
